The Goods and the Bads
The goods: Cheap, small, stands well on desktop.
The Bads: Horrible image quality, annoying Leds (that are ON all the time, couldn't figure out hot to turn them off), not 5MP for sure.

I would say, overall, you get what you pay for. Can't expect any better at $10/piece.

I wouldn't
I have spent the last two and one half hours trying to install this "plug -n - play" camera. Even their own drivers do not recognize the camera. I wouldn't suggest this webcam for anyone.

GREAT WEBCAM, works with windows 7
This is a fricking great webcam

this webcam comes without software, but it doesn't claim it does.. try downloading manycam, it's a pretty cool webcam software

this camera is compatible with windows 7, no drivers needed.. just works, out of the box (as long as you have software to view the webcam with)

people forget, NOT EVERYTHING ALWAYS COMES WITH EVERYTHING!!! people need to actually read product descriptions.. if it says it doesn't come with software, well, IT PROBABLY DOESNT!!

so, here is some help for the non techies:

-You cannot mistake mega pixels for resolution... a picture can be 320x240 and be in 5mp... mp is the quality, not the resolution.

- if you get a blurry image, try messing with the focus (turning the silver circle around) it's a manual focus, not auto

-the button on top does work, you just need the right software to use it, i'd recommend software for it so you could use the button, but i find the button useless anyway

-the best software i've ever used for webcams is "manycam" it's great, and has ALOT of settings and fun things to mess around with

so, i hope you have actually tried what i recommended above, before writing a 1 star reveiw (i severly dislike people that do that sort of thing)

Better than some $100 cams out there!
This webcam is just about the greatest bargan I have ever stumbled across.

It is totally plug and play, and comes totally unfettered by unnessicary software. Works well with built in Windows XP software. for those confused by the button on top of the camera, that is the shutter for still photos. (And yes, it takes great stills)

The xtra bonus is the four adjustable LED lights. Nice to have if your room suffers from poor lighting. Overall construction very durable, and the swivel mount and suction base are a big plus.

All and all, a great little item. Grab yours before the price goes up... way up.

Surprisingly Good for the Price
I think it is important to note that i bought this item at Staple's where they were having a very good deal and got it after everything for just under $400. I was looking for a system that would be reliable and have the few key features i needed. A must have for me was under $500, a HDMI port, the full keyboard, and everything else needed to be on average with what is currently being put out. This system of course has all of those things and has performed above average in every other area.
I wanted to make clear for some of the people who might have been a little scared after reading the previous review that i have had none of the probems that user described. Out of the box the computer set up in little to no time and connected and download all the updates that it needed withing the first 2 hours. I am a big fan of XP and so i was a little nervous about Windows 7, but at this point i have found it very intuitive and i am already considering switching my other systems over to it. I have had zero compatibily problems to this point and i have continued useing all the main programs that i use on my xp system. More than that i have been impressed with the overall look and feel of the computer. It looks better than my last laptop that was an acer aspire and cost more than twice as much. It doesn't have that cheap feel that some laptops have and it feels solidly built. It doesn't bend or creak at all even when held by the edges. I will and have recommended to friend and family and i think that if it is in your price range that you should take a close look at it. Keep an eye out for specials and see if you can get it cheap.

Prepare to spend a LOT of time setting up your new computer
I recently purchased this to replace an aging Toshiba laptop that I was satisfied with. The comparable Toshiba was not available, so I opted for this HP with similar features. These days, laptops are virtually disposable, so I view them as electronic yellow pads to be replaced every couple years, and not as something I will keep forever. Many of my complaints are probably not unique to HP, but come with buying and setting up a new PC.

The cons of this machine are: (1) in my experience with several machines, HP software (printers, maintenance programs) that runs in the background is bulky, buggy and dramatically reduces performance and often interfere with other software; (2) there's no manual volume control on the machine, so you have to use the mouse and software to raise and lower the volume rather than a simple dial on the machine; (3) it's wider than previous machines, which means it probably won't fit in the briefcase you used for your previous machine; (4) no recovery disks come with the machine; and, (5) the whole Windows 7 experience and lack of compatability with earlier Windows software and drivers.

Windows 7. Compared with XP it's slow and your favorite programs probably won't work with it, so budget for buying a bunch of new software -- keep your receipts, though, because what claims to be compatable may not be. For example, my HP 7410 All in One printer did not work with this machine until I downloaded the 300+ Mb of software drivers. It still installed the HP Director printer software that bogs down my machine. I also had Iolo's System Mechanic installed on my old machine that claimed to be compatable with Windows 7 and that I loved as a simple way to remove clutter and registery errors in Windows XP. When installed in Windows 7, it disabled network connections in a manner that cannot be fixed except for a system roll back. Iolo's response was "we're working on it."

There appear to be two versions of Windows 7 -- 32 bit and 64 bit. This HP uses the 64 bit operating system, which has more compatability issues than the 32 bit version.

Even though Windows 7 is installed on the machine, expect to spend 2 days downloading the updates and security fixes for Windows 7. It's kinda like buying a new car and then spending 2 days at the shop fixing it so that it will run properly. That ought to be something folks at HP would/could change.

If you buy a new machine, I've learned that you should also buy an external hard drive and/or a flash drive to handle transfers between the machines. I used Laplink's FileMover in the past and it terminally screwed up my machine to the point where I had to re-install the operating system. My advise, based on hard-learned experience is to copy your data files and then install software on the new machine rather than use Laplink's software. Working file and system setting/driver transfer/update software ought to be included with new machines.

You also have to de-crapify the machine by removing the trial software that comes loaded on the machine and that will pop up asking whether you want to install it. For example, it comes loaded with Norton's antivirus software. My experience with many versions of Norton AV is that it's the biggest CPU/memory hog around that WILL hose up your machine and make it impossible to send and receive e-mail, so it was the first piece of software I removed.

The wireless networking seems to work nicely. But, to set it up, the automatic set up will trash your existing router's network and re-do it entirely, so anything else you have connected to your wireless router will have to be reset and redone. If you have another computer, printers, VoIP or video/audio streaming connected to your router, dig out all your set up documentation as you may have to reset everything. I don't know whether this is a Windows 7 thing or an HP thing, but it should not happen with a new machine.

Spend a couple more dollars and get a different one.
OK, in the beginning I was ready to argue against any negative reviews on here, but I've used this for a while now, and I'm perTURBED. The good points, well, it has three fans, and really does cool my laptop. My laptop is remarkably cool to the touch, even with metal plate around the keyboard and tending to run too hot.

But in addition to the silly blue lights that sometimes strobe behind the moving fan blades, this cooler is a product that works well only if it sits on a table and doesn't move. I can't tell you how many times of stuck my fingers into the moving fans from underneath! I want to use my laptop...in my lap. Well, I can't with this cooler under it unless there's something else under the cooler. I use the old cooler I had as a platform, and it's a d e q u a t e, but I'm writing this minute because it buzzed my fingers just now, one time too many. It's a decent idea that could be better. They need to screen in those blades.

fan base
Received the cooling fan today and i am kind of disapointed. The base is made of cheap plastic, very flimsy. Eventhough the fan works just fine i thought i would be getting a better quality of a fan base. I cant say anything about performance just yet.

Great cooler, there are many other better ones however.
This notebook cooler provides three 60mm fans with blue led lights that blow you away(or at least blew my hand cold). During shipment however, two screws fell out, 3 were missing. The two screws that fell out was not able to be screwed back in because the screw-hole itself also broke. However it is still usable as just one screw is sufficient enough to keep a 60mm fan on the case.

used?
It came in a very dirty box so I assumed that it was a used one. The lights are cool but it doesn't turn off when I put my laptop to sleep, but that's okay. One of the fans doesn't work sometimes unless I give it a little spin. The air seems weak, but it's working fine

Great for the price!
This product is everything I thought it would be. No frills, gets the job done on my 17" HP laptop. The internal fan stopped working and I needed something until I had time to give up my laptop to have it fixed. This did the job and I would say it is better than average. I personally do not like the blue lights but they don't bother me either. I really like the way the fan lifts my laptop off the table and slightly tilts it toward me on no skid feet.

Not Just Good, It's Great
Few things in life amaze me to the point to which i write a review but here geos: This is a long review but really worth reading explains everything.

I've had it for a week now and i just want to say it honestly exceeded my expectations. This thing works so well its unbeleivable, i thought it wouldn't really work but my previous laptop cooler broke down so i decided to try because i didn't wanna spend alot of money. This thing is just great lifes your laptop and makes it great for typing much more comfortable, i guarantee a 100% that your laptop will be much much cooler and all overheating problems will be eliminated. But you will have no heating problems if your fan just works properly. It lifts it up properly so it allows the air to be circulated. Just wanted to clarify what other low rating reviews failed to justify, yes this thing is tiny i mean i have a 17 inch laptop and i can pretty much tell you this thing isn't huge i would give it like 11 inches. But it is small for a reason it doesn't cover the fan vents which are under your laptop usually on the far left side, so the air will come out with no problems whatso ever. Second thing it is very safe it will hold your laptop up and it most definetly will not slip unless you positioned it wrong in the first place. Overall, exceeded my expectation for the price and i can tell from 2 years of experience with laptop coolers it works 10x times better.

This would make a really great purchase.

Too small (RT_M!)
OK, my fault for not reading the description carefully. This item probably is fine for supporting a laptop on a desk. I wanted it to support the laptop on my LAP, and it's no good for that.

M. S. Goodson ( San Antonio, TX United States )
Simple, functional, great price
I've had my "cool lift" for about a week, and it works beautifully. It's a simple foam pad that lifts the back of your laptop off the desk surface, requiring less work by your machine's cooling fan (ergo longer battery life if you're portable). My Toshiba has a hot spot under my left wrist, and the lift has improved that dramatically. The added benefit is a comfortable typing angle on a table or desk (I'm not sure why another reviewer thought this was for your lap [different product - see lap desk], or why they would be placing their laptop on a slanted surface and expecting this item to hold it in place [duh]). The product is smaller than your laptop, but offers solid support with virtually no "give" as you work. Finally, it's small size also allows you to throw it in the briefcase or backpack without sacrificing a lot of room.

I notice there are currently two offerings of this same product from amazon.com at two different price points. One listing adds four bucks to the price and offers FREE Super Saver shipping. This would be the best way to go if you're looking for a deal, as the shipping from Handstands is six and a half bucks.

It just simply works !!
Works great on my 18.4 inch Sony laptop , feels very secure on my desk . Some times simple outperforms more complicated design. I own two more expensive stands Connectland Ergonomic Laptop Stand and Diplomat Desk Stand in my opinion this one is more comfortable if you do a lot of typing .
......................................................

RansomedbyFire ( South Carolina, USA )
Works okay but could use a few improvements
This product works okay, but I think there are a few things that could be improved. First of all, the product is a bit small for a standard size laptop. This hasn't been too much of a problem for me though. Using the laptop on my lap, I find that my main complaint is that the product bends in certain situations. I believe that this problem could be improved if the bottom of the laptop lifter was a little more sturdy. Instead of being a foam-like substance, maybe it should have been made with a more sturdy plastic backing.

Solid Stand
I thought this item was a tad overpriced when I bought it, but I really liked the looks and functionality of it. I was pleasantly surprised by how solid the stand actually is. Looked great with my MacBook Pro and now with my MacBook Air. Raises the screen to a good level for use with my 22" monitor.

J. Rotunda ( North Carolina )
Not Just Your Ordinary Stand
While the mStand is a beautiful product that complements the aluminum finish of the MacBook Pro line, that's not the only thing it's good for. I have my MBP hooked up to an external monitor and the mStand puts the laptop at almost the same height as the external monitor which makes working with both screens much easier. The stand itself is extremely sturdy - I've bumped it on a few occasions - and also has the added benefit of working as a cord organizer for all the cords running to my MBP. While it is pricey, it's well worth the extra investment and that comes from someone who tried five different stands offered here on Amazon prior to purchasing the mStand.

I love this product it keeps my MacBook at just the right height and keeps the air flowing underneath it to keep it cool. My husband saw it on [...] and knew that's exactly what we were looking for.

Very nice, but VGA plug doesn't fit cable management design
This stand is aesthetically pleasing and does the basic job of holding the laptop. The only issue I have is that the hole in the back for cable management is not big enough for a VGA plug. Since the Mini Display Port to VGA connector is short, you would need to pass the VGA plug through the hole in the back to use it, but it doesn't fit. This is not a big issue for my desk however and overall the stand performs very well.

B. Kugler ( Palm Harbor, FL. )
Perfect Companion for your MacBook
Is the perfect match for your MacBook and/or MacBook Pro and your Apple Monitor. Matches in every respect. Keeps the laptop monitor at perfect height next to the external monitor so you can use both monitors together. Aluminum design also matches perfectly. Looks like it was designed by Apple designers. Very sturdy. Laptop doesn't move or slide around when on the stand at all.

Review Swissgear Backpack for 17 inch notebook
The only problem with the backpack is that my laptop(which is 17 inch) fits with a great difficulty.
Nice construction quality. Convenient.

Justin Bubb ( Northern Illinois University )
Nice, but not what it was suppose to be.
Online, this backpack was said to have capabilities to hold a 17in laptop; however, it does not. I even have tags that says that it does hold up to a 17 inch laptop, but it is a lie. The laptop protection will not even close with a 17 inch laptop in it, the section behind it will just barely close, and I know this is going to rip, just like the last Swiss Army backpack that I had. I do like this bag in every other way, just pissed that I specifically ordered one that I could carry my laptop, and it turns out to be a lie.

  • Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit)
  • Weighs 6.62 pounds

The Basics

  • Processor: The 2.16 GHz Intel Pentium T3400 dual-core processor delivers additional computing resources and help expand the PC's capabilities by providing higher throughput and simultaneous computing. You'll be able to perform multiple tasks such as digital rendering and gaming all while running virus scan or other background tasks seamlessly. And its Intel 64 architecture is also ready for tomorrow's 64-bit applications, and offers enhanced performance through improved virtual memory. Each core shares 2 MB of L2 cache, and they have a 667 MHz front-side bus. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a faster front-side bus will deliver better overall performance.)
  • Hard Drive: The generous 250 GB Serial ATA hard drive (5400 RPM) provides more than enough capacity for storing a large audio and video library, as well as extra space required for video editing. This SATA hard drive also quickens the pace with a higher speed transfer of data--akin to Firewire and USB 2.0.
  • Memory: The 2 GB of installed RAM (PC2-6400, 1 x 2 GB, 2 x 1 GB) is a great start. This notebook has a 4 GB maximum RAM capacity (2 x 2 GB). To receive the faster data transfer benefits of the dual-channel DDR2 RAM, any RAM additions require memory modules of same capacity and clockspeed.
  • DVD/CD Drive: This multiformat DVD/CD drive is compatible with writing both DVD+ and DVD- disc formats as well as dual-layer (DL) DVD+/-R discs, which can store up to 8.5 GB of data. • Keyboard & Mouse: This notebook has a 101-key keyboard (with integrated numeric keypad) and a touchpad with on/off button and dedicated vertical/horizontal Scroll Up/Down pad.
Screen, Video & Audio
You'll enjoy razor-sharp graphics and widescreen movies with the 15.6-inch WXGA high-definition screen, which has a widescreen resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels--a perfect 16:9 aspect ratio for watching DVD movies the way they were meant to be seen. Video is powered by the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M, which uses shared video memory (up to 797 MB allocated from the system memory). This graphics card is built with Intel Clear Video technology, which delivers clearer, more detailed images by eliminating many of the jagged edges and video artifacts seen when viewing interlaced content and features powerful color control to ensure videos are not too dark, overly bright, or washed out.

Well priced laptop until the HD dies on you
I bought this laptop in April and was very happy with the price and the product (aside from the relatively short battery life). What I was not prepared for was for the hard drive to die after 6 months causing me to lose all my data and pictures (which I foolishly had not backed up). Interestingly enough, a co-worker in my office had purchased the same exact computer and his hard drive died after 9 months. Now, not only have I lost all my data but I will need to figure out how to remove the existent HD and install the new one that they are sending me (which I will have to pay someone to do). End of the day, this "budge" purchase will end up costing me a lot more then the original $400.

Good
Well I didn't really plan on writing here so I'll be short. Great for college. Not for games. Overheats really quickly if not on hard surface so the fans can be exposed. Shortish battery if you plan on using it out n about.
